My Secret Pal!!!

So, I have to brag about my new secret pal. So, for the last week or so we have been playing a guessing game about where she is from. She would drop clues and I would follow the bread crumbs. Really fun! REALLY fun. So, finally, she dropped a bomb and I figured it out. :0) Actually, I think she just felt sorry for me and gave a huge undeniable clue. heh heh Anyhow, it turns out that she live in a city that I spent a year in some time ago. This may seem like no big deal...until you learn it is ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD. Wow!!! How's that for co-inkydinkys? And, I couldn't have asked for a better pal. Yea, Secret Pal! I am sure if we were a couple of continents closer we would be inseparable. Thanks Secret Pal 7!

Now, on to the knitting front. I have joined some fun groups and am looking forward to doing some KALs and other fun. I have actaully earned to add links with the help of Marina at (I will have a link to you soon!!). She unselfishly explained to my tiny little mind how to do this (a couple of times), so there are goodies winging their way to her. :0) Hope you like it, Marina! Go check her site out. Wow! An incredible knitter.

Little Rivers and Rhinegold are making a slow comeback after the evil-wrist-warmer-sidetracking episode. These were actually designed by "those against sweater creation" to throw otherwise fairly (I said fairly) prolific knitters off track. It worked. It is still working, but I am trying. I really am. I WANT to finish a sweater this year before the summer sweltering heat. I do. But they are so fun and fast........and now Michele wants a really cool pair.....

Better things to do on a Saturday...

Or do I? I just spent the better part of a Saturday removing glue from our glass "screen" front door. You might ask why. You might be right to wonder why there was even glue on glass in the first place. I did....for the better part of a Saturday, as I removed it. It seems that a previous idio..umm....home owner put window tint on the door. Backwards. All fine and good and could be left alone. Unless you are me and scare yourself sh&*@ess each and every time you open the door to get mail and find you are faced with someone standing at your door straing at you. You go into fight or flight mode. Until you realize gasping for air that it is in fact YOU. Yes, I really am that stupi..uh...I mean forgetful.

So my secret pal has written me several times now. I am really having fun getting to know her and guess where she is located......although...after my last guess I haven't heard from her...........Good Lord. I hope I haven't frightened her away. How can you be frightened of someone that is literally scared of her own reflection??? Naaawww, she probably just actually has a life. But seriously, she is looking to be a great pal. I hope all in this exchange are as lucky. :0)

Not much going on in the knitting front I am afraid. Back to the old grind of making know. To buy yarn. I finished another pair of those da%&*n soul-sucking wrist-warmers, and now I must begin again on my WIP. I am hoping to join a KAL on Mara from Scottish Collection soon. I know, I know....I have no business doing it. But I am hoping that just the thought of it will get me going on my others. Yep. A jumpstart. Just like my vacation did. I think most of my packing space was filled with WIP and good intentions....a space that remanied the same there and back I might add. EXACTLY the same But this time I MEAN IT. I am going in there and knitting....right a minute. Did I tell ya I got a new camera? No, no no, I am NOT trying to change the subject. Ok, I 'm going. Right now. In a minute.

Secret Pal 7

Ok, and we're back from Germany! What a great trip it was! Man I love that family. We had an absolutely wonderful time visiting and just lounging around. It snowed before our arrival and it looked like a winter wonderland when we drove up to v's mom's house. I will have some pics up soon. Petra!! I love the photo and the necklace. I am going to wear it tonight! :0) Love you guys!

I heard from my new Secret Pal today!! Whooohooo. I can't wait to get to know her. She asked for my questionnaire and so here we have it!

1. Are you a yarn snob (do you prefer higher quality and/or natural fibers)? Do you avoid Red Heart and Lion Brand?

Oh, yeah...I am afraid I am a natural fibers snob for the most part. I figure if I am taking the time to make something I want it to last and stay in good shape.

2. Do you spin? Crochet?

I do spin when I can find the time, but I don’t crochet....yet. I would like to, though.

3. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in?

I have a big palstic storage bin that I use for the needles. Circular, straight and all. Very messy. :0)

4. How long have you been knitting? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced?

I have been knitting for just under 20 years. One of my dear friends taught me and I still never knit without thinking of her. I think I am an advanced intermediate knitter.

I make bobbin lace, bead and qulit a little.

9. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD)

Again, I like it all. There isn’t much in the way of music that I won’t listen to with the exception of rap. Never really went there.

10. What's your favorite color? Or--do you have a color family/season/palette you prefer? Any colors you just can't stand? Purple and red without a doubt.

11. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?

I am married with two cats and two parrots that run my life.

12. Do you wear scarves, hats, mittens or ponchos?

I wear all.

13. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with?

Acrylics that are meant to look like wool.

Fair Isles and beaded wrist warmers.

Circs for most, but I love the feel of wood straights.

Yes, both.

22. How did you learn to knit?
